Why Our Mount Costs More (And Why It’s Worth It) Let’s be real: You can buy a cheap whip mount for half the price. But those are made from Cast Aluminum (poured into a mold). When a 6-foot LED whip catches a low-hanging branch at 30mph, the leverage snaps cast aluminum like a twig. The Dirtbag Difference: We machine our mount from solid 6061 Billet Aluminum. It is structural. It is “Tree Proof.” We engineer it to survive the trail, not just look good in the parking lot. (Note: Sold Individually).

Solved: The “Glass Clearance” & Chassis Flex Problem

Most whip mounts sit flush against the cage, which creates a major risk: Window Shattering. When you ride hard, your UTV chassis flexes. If your mount is touching the glass frame, that flex pressure will crack your rear windshield. We engineered a solution.

Our mount features a precision-machined offset that maintains a safe “Air Gap” between the billet mount and your window frame. This accounts for:

• Chassis Flex: Ensures the mount never contacts the glass during frame torsion.

• Mechanism Clearance: Clears the struts and hinges on opening rear windows (like the Xpedition ADV).

• Can-Am Defender Limited Warning: The Defender Limited has the tightest cage-to-glass tolerance in the industry. For this specific model, we recommend mounting on ONE side only. Installing mounts on both sides simultaneously can create excessive “wedge pressure” on the rear glass frame, leading to potential cracking. Polaris Ranger Northstar and Xpedition models can run dual mounts safely.

Tech Note (Verify Your Tolerances): Due to factory manufacturing variances in roll cage alignment and glass installation, it is the installer’s responsibility to verify a minimum of 3mm clearance between the mount and any glass surface before operation. Dirtbag Brands is not responsible for glass damage caused by insufficient clearance or chassis flex on machines with tighter-than-spec factory tolerances.
